The Consortium of “DISENEX-Disability and entrepreneurship” (project number 2020-1-DE02-KA204-007739) worked hard to identify the best practices in each country of the organizations part of the project. The best practices are composed of entrepreneurs with disability founders of social business.
But why was it so difficult to reach this objective?
The main reason is the lack of inclusion of people with disability in the labor market in general, and specifically in the entrepreneurial one. It is the same factor which brought the consortium to start the project. Besides, most people with disabilities didn’t create their own business, but they are employees or managers of some activities. This is not due just to difficulties encountered because of disability, but to motivational and exclusion reasons.
It emerged also through the stories and the episodes of the miniseries of the entrepreneurs from Italy, Slovenia, Turkey, Germany and Norway.
In fact, partners collected their stories into booklets in the Consortium EU languages in addition to English, telling stories of who succeeded after several difficulties. They also recorded motivational videos available through the project YouTube channel, in which these entrepreneurs tell their own stories. Stories of people who learned to write through feet, because the schools didn’t want to provide education, people who were born with a disability or have been confronted with it after an accident. People who decided to start their own business because of the issues encountered in finding a job.
You can take a look on the booklet and on the videos through the DISENEX portal at the following link.
